Did you know African Black Soap can replace 5+ products in your home? From Skincare to dishwashing, Pure African Black Soap does it all.

Pure African Black Soap (ABS) is incredibly versatile because it's naturally microbial, gently exfoliating, and rich in plant ash, oils, and natural minerals. In a world of overcomplicated routines and endless bottles, Pure African Black Soap stands as a quiet return to simplicity...one bar, many uses, centuries of wisdom.

Crafted through ancestral methods and passed down through generations in West Africa, African Black Soap is more than a cleanser. It is a ritual. A reset. A reminder that nature already knows how to care for us...when we let it. African Black Soap reminds us that true luxury is rooted in intention...not excess.

At Natty Naturals, we honor ingredients that are plant-based, globally sourced, and intentionally chosen. Pure African Black Soap embodies that philosophy effortlessly. It is an absolute must have and favorite in our household, and below, I want to share the many ways this humble, earthy bar can be woven into your daily skin, hair, home, and self care rituals.

WHAT IS PURE AFRICAN BLACK SOAP?

Pure ABS is traditionally made using;

Sun-dried cocoa pods

Plantain Skins

Palm Kernel Oil (sometimes Shea Butter)

The ingredients are slow roasted, hand blended, and cured, resulting in a soft, crumbly, brown or deep brownish gray soap with a light smoky, earthy aroma.

TIP: If the soap is jet black, heavily scented, or perfectly smooth, it's not pure.

Authentic ABS is imperfect by design. And, that's where its power lives.

THE MANY USES OF PURE

AFRICAN BLACK SOAP:

 1. A Daily Body Cleanser

  •  African Black Soap gently cleanses while helping to clear body acne, reduce odor-causing bacteria, and smooth rough or textured skin.

TIP: Be sure to follow up with a nourishing Body Butter or Body Oil to seal in the moisture after cleansing and rinsing.

  2. A Facial Cleanser For Acne- Prone Skin

  • When used mindfully, ABS can support clearer skin by unclogging pores, balancing excess oil, and gently exfoliating with natural ash.

TIP: Be sure to follow up with a Toner and Face Oil and/or Beauty Balm to hydrate and seal in the moisture.

  3. A Clarifying Shampoo

  • ABS makes an excellent scalp reset, especially for Locs, Braids, Protective Styles, and Product Buildup.

TIP: Always follow up with a Deep Conditioner or hydrating treatment.

  4. Beard & Shaving Cleanser

ABS creates a gentle slip that helps reduce Razor Bumps, Ingrown Hairs, and Post Shave irritation. It's also wonderful for underarms, legs and sensitive areas.

Tip: When beard cleansing, be sure to follow up with our Rose + Hibiscus Toner and Beard Oil or Hair + Body Butter to hydrate hair and skin.

   5. Makeup Brush Cleanser

I love using our African Black Soap to clean my makeup brushes. Its naturally cleansing ability lifts oil and bacteria from brushes and sponges without leaving residue. It's simple, effective, and most important, non toxic.

Tip: Be sure to thoroughly rinse your brushes to ensure no residue is left on the brushes.

   6. DIY Liquid Soap Base:

As a liquid soap which is when the ABS is gently dissolved in water, it transforms into a versatile liquid cleanser for hands, body, shower rituals, hair cleansing, hand washing clothes, and washing dishes by hand. I love to use liquid ABS when hand washing delicates. It provides a pretty thorough cleanse without the harsh detergent and synthetic fragrances that can cause irritation.

WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO HYDRATE AFTER USING AFRICAN BLACK SOAP

African Black Soap is naturally alkaline (higher Ph) and deeply cleansing. Always follow up with nourishment. Pair it with our Leave In Conditioner Hair + Body Butter, Locs + Tress Oil, or Calm Body Oil for hair and body. Or, enjoy it with our Rosehip Facial Serum and/or Kijani Beauty Balm for face cleansing and moisturizing. You can also enjoy our Shampoo which contains our African Black Soap. Cleansing opens the door. Moisture completes the ritual.
